bikerumor pic of the day Knik Glacier, near Palmer, Alaska

Photo submitted by Patrick Shiflea, “March 5, 2016: Knik Glacier, near Palmer, Alaska. A great ride on the lake at the toe of Knik Glacier. Sections of the glacier calve off and freeze into the lake, creating amazing formations. The frozen lake provides good access right up to the glacier.”

WOW! I would love to get the full resolution photo to use as a desktop wallpaper. Is the photographer willing to share this? 1920×1200 would be ideal.
Great photo!

So cool! I’d like to try to get to the glacier next week. Did you take the Northern Route from Butte or the Southern one from Hunter Creek’s bridge? What were the trail conditions like? River crossings…?

North side from Jim Creek. Trails were frozen in the morning and many sections turned to mud bogs as the temp came up during the day. Conditions can change daily with warmer temperature.
