It’s a front light. It’s a rear. The new Blackburn 2’Fer is both. Adding to the growing number of compact LED lights that provide both white and red illumination for both front and rear use, the 2’Fer should make for a versatile light that is a perfect companion for your next adventure…

Packaging a 60 lumen white front light and a 20 lumen red, rear light into the compact housing, a push of the central button will cycle between steady and flashing light patterns in both colors. A 2 second hold of the same button turns the light on and off.

Equipped with a replaceable silicone strap, the 2’Fer will fit bars from 22-32mm in diameter. The light also includes a clip for attaching to bags or racks. IP-65 certified for waterproofing, the 2’Fer provides 180 degree visibility with a curved bezel.

Fitted with a Lithium Polymer battery the light is USB rechargeable with the included cable. Charging takes about 3 hours which provides around 5 hours of flashing or 1.5 hours of steady run times. The 2’Fer even includes an LED fuel gauge to indicate the remaining charge. Certified to ANSI FL-1 standards, the 18g light will retail for $24.99 and is available now.

Free lights for life! All you have to do is deal with warranting them every couple of weeks!

Blackburn is ridiculous….”lifetime warranty” but they are all cheap Chinese products…and the quality is lacking…so yes you would have to deal with warranty every few weeks.

Bought three of these a few weeks back and absolutely no problem with them. Easy to charge and put on off the bike. Incredibly bright and about £16 from my local bike shop in Camberwell. Even if they only last a year, they’ve done their job…

Short review: Awesome light, buy two. They use a micro USB cable for recharging.

Long-winded review: I’m visiting Kauai and borrowed a friend’s bike equipped with two of these lights. For family time and to avoid the burning sun of the day, I did a fair amount of night riding. My experience in cycling is extensive: road racing, triathlon, commuting, and cycle touring (Nice-Marrakech, etc). I love the fact that these lights are rechargeable, super-lightweight, and quite effective in terms of safety illumination. For this purpose, they are excellent. A Blackburn 2’Fer, as a bicycle headlight, going slowly–works better than average–but for higher speeds, I recommend a stronger light to really see the road. Try removing the strap of a Blackdiamond Storm and fashion it to the front of your helmet. For that matter, use one of these 2’Fer lights on the rear of your helmet for optimal driver visibility–it will counterweight the headlamp.

Here’s a tip for using a 2’Fer as a handle-bar mounted headlight: put a strip of black electrical tape over the top edge to allievate glare into the rider’s eyes.

Overall, I’m very impressed with the Blackburn 2’Fer light and will buy a couple for myself. It’s such a great little light, I will carry one traveling–even if not cycling.
