With all of the carbon and hydro-formed aluminum bikes blending into each other, seeing a vintage steel racing bike’s slim lines and soulful stance reverberates in the hearts of many. Whether a new or seasoned rider, it’s hard to mistake something that is as timeless as it is classic and Bombtrack wants to take us back with the Tempest.

The Bombtrack Tempest is made of Reynolds 725 tubing giving it the ride characteristics that steel is known for, but with modern styling and geometry. Created to be a true performance road bike, Bombtrack made sure the drivetrain didn’t cut any corners with nearly a full Shimano 105 group (KMC chain), Mavic Ksyrium Equipe wheels, and quality components throughout the build. The frame uses a PF86 bottom bracket, QR investment cast dropouts, and a carbon fork with a 1 1/8″ steerer and will be offered in XS – L
The beautiful Audax is essentially the more relaxed version of the Tempest. Already ridden by Clement Shovel to a 14th place finish in the 3rd annual Transcontinental race, the Audax seems equally happy loaded up with bags for a multi-country journey or stripped down for a long cruise on your favorite roads. The full 4130 chromoly frame comes with a very attractive paint job and fenders fitted out of the box for a bike that is as functional as it is stunning.
Road bikes don’t get much simpler than the new Geared Oxbridge, or much more affordable. The city bike gains a retro inspired 1×10 drivetrain with down tube shifters (the front is included in case you want to add a front derailleur) and a simple, but effective chain guide. Exact U.S. pricing wasn’t set, but we were told the key word is affordable.
After starting their journey into cross with the SS Arise, that bike was quickly followed by the geared Hook. Now, the Hook is growing up with 3 different versions – a full Chromoly frame, a Columbus Cromor frame, and a full T700 frame and fork. The two steel bikes stick with disc brakes and quick releases while the carbon bike goes full thru axle disc. Each bike is built with increasing levels of drivetrains up to the Force CX1 group for the Hook 3, but all three are built to race.
Following in the footsteps of their Beyond bike packing rig, Bombtrack is looking to blow things up with the Beyond+. Still a prototype, this bike was rolling on 27+ wheels and tires, and adds plenty of tire clearance with thru axles front and rear. As you can see, Bombtrack takes their bike testing pretty seriously – usually with some incredible journey across the world. No word on when this one might be available, but they’re working on it…
Even bikes that have been in the line up are seeing continued tweaks like their steel criterium bike. The Needle sees reduced seat tube length, a tapered head tube, new dropouts, a Reynolds 725 steel frame and a carbon/alloy fork.
Available soon globally, the Tempest and other Bombtrack bicycles will be distributed in the United States by North America Cycles, out of Ames, Iowa.
