It’s been years since I used a mountain bike stem longer than 70mm. But if you’re an XC racer (or just trying to update that classic MTB), there’s still a time and place for something 80mm or longer. And if you’re looking for something that will also work with modern 35mm handlebars, the new Box One XC stem has you covered.
The Box One XC is a cold forged aluminum stem complete with titanium hardware. Available in 80, 90, and 100mm lengths, the stems all have a +/- 6° rise, and weigh between 148g and 174g depending on the length. As mentioned, the handle bar clamp is 35mm in diameter. Pricing is set at $99 and they’re available for preorder now.
If you need a bar to go with it, Box also offers their Box One XC carbon bars which check in at 700mm wide, with a 6mm rise and 6° backsweep. The bars weigh in at 160g and sell for $149.99.
