Rim brake revivalists rejoice! Cane Creek Cycling Components brought back its El Platino rim eeBrakes “by popular demand.”

The limited edition kit punches at a lighter weight than most competitors, at a claimed 85.3 grams (front) and 83.7 grams (rear). As in the past, the eeBrake fits rims from 19-28mm with a 39-49mm reach. Curative touches include toolless caliper centering, a titanium barrel adjuster, and a center-aligned cable path to cut through the air smoother and spread out braking force evenly.

Cane Creek uses aluminum, stainless, and titanium parts to put it together and includes a set of carbon-compatible pad inserts with each set. eeBrakes work most optimally with Campagnolo, Shimano, or SRAM levers. Each caliper is available in regular or direct mount.

The brand makes each two-tone platinum- and pewter-coated set by hand in the U.S. at its Asheville, N.C. facility. The eeBrake limited edition El Platino 2 costs $780 MSRP per set.
