We most often spot Swiss component maker Ceetec’s parts on pro mountain bikes, but now we might find them on more cyclocross & gravel bikes thanks to a new BrazeOn Adjust version of their premium 1x Chainguide. It certainly isn’t cheap to machine components in-house in Switzerland, but Ceetec makes up for relatively high pricetags with lightweight, and a level of detail that is hard to argue with. Sure you, could find some cheaper option, but this chainguide will likely last as long as your braze-on equipped cross, gravel, or road bike will in its new single chainring life…
Ceetec BrazeOn Adjust Chainguide for 1x cross & gravel bikes
If you haven’t already dropped your braze-on front derailleur in favor of simpler 1x drivetrain conversion, maybe the Ceetec BrazeOn Adjust Chainguide will help you take the plunge. At 108.50 Swiss francs (~$110/99€), the new guide is the same price as Ceetec’s other high or low direct mount MTB guides.
While that price will lighten your wallet a bit, the CX Chainguide itself is light, just 21.8g including its 7075 series alloy mounting bolts.
What makes the Ceetec BrazeOn Adjust Chainguide special?
The name breaks its specs down, so obviously this one is designed to mount to a traditional braze-on front derailleur mount. Who uses front derailleurs more off-road anyway?
Adjust means that it allows you to adjust it up and down, not only for different chainring sizes (36-48T compatibility), but also to work with round or oval rings with two different guide heads (short or tall, respectively) like in the S2/S3 Adjust MTB chainguides.
In fact it is Ceetec’s 3D-machined guide head that really makes it rather unique. They feature more narrow spacing in between the longer forward projecting tabs to keep close to the sides of your chainring for max chain retention, and wider spaced tapered short tabs pointing back that prevent chain rub even at the extreme chain angle of wide 11, 12 & 13-speed drivetrains.
This new guide is produced in-house by Ceetec in Frenkendorf, Switzerland, CNC-machined from high-strength, high-fatigue strength 7022 alloy. The BrazeOn Adjust Chainguide comes standard anodized black with laser-etched graphics, but other color finishes are possible too.
The new Chainguide is available starting this week, with Ceetec expected to add it to their online webshop before Oct 15.
