100 years. Whatever you’re referring to, that’s a serious chunk of time. More than most life times. After 100 years since that first 3.3.3. freewheels, Shimano’s portfolio has exploded. But even after a century, their dedication to precision seems unchanged.
Shimano 100 Works Photo Book
To kick off the festivities, Shimano has just unveiled a limited-edition photo book. Only 2,000 books will be offered for sale at ¥10,000 (roughly $92). However, sales will be offered through a lottery meaning you have to win a chance to buy one of the 2,000 copies.
The lottery just opened on March 21, 2021 and will run until May 22, 2021(Sat) at 23:59 (JST). The winners will then be announced on June 7th, and you have until June 30th to complete the purchase, with books shipping starting in September.
Shimano Photo Contest
What if you don’t win the lottery? Well, there’s still a chance – and even better yet – you can win one for free. For that to happen, you’ll need to take part in the Shimano 100th photo contest.
There are a number of different themes to submit different types of photos for, each with their own entry period. Depending on the theme, entry periods run until September 30th, 2021. The Photo Book will be among the prizes presented to the Grand Prize winners along with other “Shimano Centennial novelty goods.”
Shimano Happy One Hundred Strava Challenge
Or, if you want a chance to win some Shimano goods while actively riding, check out the Happy One Hundred Strava challenge. The Challenge is pretty simple – join in on Strava, then ride 100km (62.14mi).
You have until March 29th to complete the challenge, and when you’re done you’ll be eligible to win one of three different Shimano shoe and pedal combinations. These are based on how you complete the challenge – road, gravel, or MTB. The full rules are available on the Strava page. Good luck.
