Clink Bike lock with built in tools

If you have to carry a U-Lock, it might as well do something more than just lock up your bike. Right? That was Jon Schwass’ thought when he set out to create Clink. Part lock, part multi tool, all there when you need it. In this case, the Clink is definitely geared towards bikes with bolt on hubs as they often require a large 15 or 17mm wrench to make sure the wheel is firmly held in place. The tool is also built to clear a standard BMX peg to get to the nut inside – something many standard multi tools just won’t do…

Inside the Clink in addition to the 15 and 17mm sockets, you’ll also find 5, 6, and 8mm plus 7/32″ and 1/2″ Allen bits all held in place with a magnetic base which will come in handy with many BMX stems and parts. Between the lock body acting as the handle, and part of the shackle working as the extension, you should have plenty of leverage to keep those pegs or fixed wheels in place – not to mention tightening cranks, pedals, and anything else that fits.

Sold with two keys, the two sockets (standard or extended length), Allen socket adapter, 5 Allen bits, and the Clink is currently offered through Kickstarter for $50. After the Early Bird, prices will go up to $65 and delivery of all locks expected for February 2017.

I hope that shackle is strong. For that price, I have my doubts. That’s about the price of an actual
good U-lock without the doodads.

Definitely a cool thing for urban riders, providing much more torque than your typical wimpy multitool, but for those that ride road or cross bikes, all you need are a couple of allen wrenches, and the weight penalty you pay with this thing isn’t worth it.

Sure, but you probably dont carry a full size ulock on your road and cross rides. This is great for the urban commuter.

This is the first kickstarter for bikes where I understood the point.
