Colnago was first to integrate blockchain technology into their bikes, using it to create a non-fungible proof of ownership token tied to each bike. Now, they’re the first to use artificial intelligence to power a consumer interface, and it’s quite cool.
Built on RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) technology, this beta launch of its first conversational AI brings Colnago’s extensive historical and technical archive to life, “offering enthusiasts, collectors, and professionals an immersive and interactive experience.”

We played around with it, asking two questions…one product oriented (above) and one about its history with Merckx (below).
The Colnago AI was trained on and draws from a vast and curated archive of rare books and technical publications, historic and contemporary photographs, articles and stories from the Grand Tours and major races, and vintage catalogs and technical documentation.

Hit the link below to try it out, and if you’re not sure what to ask, it’ll prompt you (we’ve come full circle, haven’t we?) with some questions to prompt it with.
“This isn’t just a digital assistant — it’s a bridge between our legacy and the future of Colnago,” said Alessandro Turci, the Colnagologist (Colnago Heritage Manager). “Our goal is to deliver an immersive way to experience the brand’s heritage, powered by the potential of artificial intelligence.”
Future data training will add to their AI’s knowledge base and make it more useful for topics like:
- Maintenance and care of Colnago bicycles
- Personalized technical assistance
- Pre- and post-sale information
- Expert guidance in choosing the ideal model
The training wheels are still on, and Colnago invites fans to provide feedback on the results if they see room for improvement. In the meantime, it’s a fun way to explore the brand’s history, bicycles, athletes, and race results in a cleverly curated way.
