Colnago 650b MC27

Spotted in the pits at Val di Sole, Colnago looks to have a new bike in the works and word on the street is that it is 650b. Called the MC27, the hard tail looks to be molded from carbon which would mean a departure from the lugged carbon “Master Type II” tube design of the current C29. Additionally, a thru axle (likely 142×12) rear end along with a direct mount rear derailleur are clearly visible. We’ve heard that Colnago may be launching a few new bikes in the coming seasons looking to boost their presence in the mountain bike world.

This photo of team mechanic Jernej Sobocan building up the MC27 was posted by Nathalie Schneitter who was racing the XCE in Val di Sole, but appeared to be on a different bike with pink accents. She was up against a tough first eliminator facing Katerina Nash, Alexandra Engen (who later took the win), and Ramona Forchini, and unfortunately didn’t make the cut coming home with a respectable 10th. Watch the full XCE here.

Whats wrong with Chinese carbon? They are the best at it. Certainly better craftsmanship and finish than the Italian companies. Their labor laws on the other hand…
