Whether its goggles, helmets, neck braces or body protectors, Leatt always puts safety as a high priority when designing their products. At Crankworx Whistler, Bikerumor got the invite to check out some of Leatt’s Twenty/Twenty helmets, body protection, and the company’s first line of women’s clothing.
The new women’s line debuts with a jacket, two jerseys, shorts and gloves. Leatt’s full Twenty/Twenty collection will be announced this fall, so in this article we’ll highlight a few key items we saw at Crankworx.
Leatt Twenty/Twenty DBX 1.0 mountain helmet:
Leatt emphasized how their technology is trickling down to lower price points, and the DBX 1.0 Mountain helmet is a great example. For a very reasonable price, the DBX 1.0 offers their 360 Turbine Technology and an adjustable, flexible visor.
Leatt’s 360 Turbine Technology uses small flexible pads on the inside of the helmet’s shell that can squirm around when your skull contacts them (see title image). They’re claimed to reduce 30% of head impact forces and 40% of rotational acceleration.
Flexible visors are something I think are brilliant. They not only won’t break in a crash, they can also help reduce the chance of twisting your neck if you hit the dirt head first. Leatt’s visor is not only flexible, but will break away from the helmet under a hard impact.
