We’re starting to see a lot of interesting product launches sent out way via Cycle Monkey in Richmond, CA. It should probably come as little surprise, since the U.S. distributor and service center for Rohloff Speedhubs is working to position themselves as the source for all things adventure and bikepacking.
The latest news from Cycle Monkey preempts their showing at the Philly Bike Expo where they will be helping to introduce the new Ventana Wolfram 27.5+ mountain bike. Built specifically around the smaller + size, the Wolfram combines modern MTB geometry with Rohloff compatibility for another interesting + size ripper…
As with other Ventana frames, the Wolfram + is built in the USA and uses butted and hydroformed tubing to create a light but stiff frame. Swinging dropouts with a split seat stay allow for the use of single speed, belt drive, Rohloff, or geared drivetrains for ultimate flexibility. The geared versions will run Boost 148 spacing in the rear while the Rohloff frames will run 142×12 to take advantage of the new thru axle Speedhub A12 model which Cycle Monkey of course distributes as well.
Designed around a 120-140mm travel fork, the tapered head tube is set at 67 degrees (with a 120mm fork) and the frame runs 419mm chain stays in the shortest setting thanks to the machined chain stay yoke.
In addition to standard versions, Cycle Monkey will be offering their own custom versions of Ventana bikes which will include a complete Rohloff 500/14 hub build and Rohloff specific cable housing and internal dropper routing. Prices for the completes from Cycle Monkey start at $4,999. More from Philly when we have it.
