The first we really saw of the moto-style center stand for bikes was the Scorpion back at Sea Otter in 2014, which since got bought & updated by Feedback Sports. Now UK bike storage specialists Cycloc have their take on the concept with the twisty Hobo.

Cycloc Hobo bottom bracket center stand

Unlike the recently updated Scorpion which is now two-pieces to ease travel/storage, the Hobo opts for a one-piece bent-paperclip looking design that they say makes for a stable base.

The Hobo is created from a single piece if 32mm diameter steel tubing bent to pick your bike up off the ground by its hollow spindle bottom bracket. It includes three bolt-on spacers that slide onto the spindle that supports your bike – fitting cranks with 12, 18 or 20mm internal BB spindle diameters (does not work with Campy Ultra Torque, or some RaceFace cranks).  The bent design allows pedal clearance so you can spin the cranks to use it as a work stand.

The Hobo come in four colors – black, white, red & green – and retails for 70€. It lifts your bike’s bottom bracket to about 405mm, to get it just a few centimeters off the ground.

So they take the Scorpion which was on the pricey side for what it was, make is less dificult to manufacture and then jack the the price way up. Seems legit. /s

Why does this exist at this price? Even the feedback version is overpriced when compared almost every other stand option on the market. This is work stand money for a storage stand that seems super fiddly to use. Pass.
