In cycling, D30 Protection is widely recognized as one of the leaders in protective materials. D30 foam and variations of its unique padding appear as protective inserts in gloves, knee and elbow protectors, chest protectors, MTB grips, and more. Beyond mountain biking, D30’s materials are also found in protective gear for motor sports, workwear, and even the military. Until now, however, one application we have not seen for D30 materials is the chamois, or seat pad, of cycling shorts.

It sounds like that’s about to change, with the Italian seat pad maker TeoSport announcing a strategic partnership with D30 to incorporate D30 foam into its pads. “With D3O, we are bringing a new level of protection to cycling,” explains TeoSport’s Daniela Osellame. “Their solutions, designed for extreme scenarios, are now an integral part of our pads, significantly enhancing the performance experience for cyclists.

Although we have not seen D30 materials used in seat pads before, it seems like it certainly has the potential to be a great fit. Unlike traditional foams, D30’s impact-absorbing and vibration-damping properties could prove to be advantageous in this application. According to the press release. “D3O foams counteract the repetitive micro-vibrations caused by continuous pedalling. This protects muscular structures and improves endurance over time, providing greater comfort, especially when cycling for longer distances.

For this collaboration, TeoSport and D30 have specifically identified the D30 AeroMax material as the ideal choice for the seat pad application. Based on some of the images shared, it appears the D30 padding will be incorporated with other foams and strategically placed in locations where it will be most advantageous. Thanks to the integration of D3O, vibration mitigation is highly advanced, helping to improve focus, reduce muscle fatigue, and ensure superior control over long distances. This provides a clear advantage for riders tackling rough terrain, long rides or intense training sessions.”

We’re proud to partner with TeoSport to bring our impact and vibration-damping technologies to more cyclists,” said Stuart Sawyer, CEO of D3O. “D3O is already trusted in the world of mountain biking for its world-class protective properties, and we’re excited to see our materials improving pad performance and helping riders reduce fatigue.

We’re already quite familiar with D30 materials in its various forms of body protection for mountain biking, and we’re certainly intrigued by its use as a padding material in the seat pads of cycling shorts. So far, we don’t have any information regarding the brands or models that may incorporate these new TeoSport D30 seat pads in their cycling shorts and bibs. We’ll have to wait and see where they end up, but we’ll let you know as soon as we have more information and look forward to trying them out for ourselves.
