Dakine have released the new Drift mountain bike shoe. Available in a flat pedal version only, the aim here isn’t to win races, but to be the shoe you’ll wear for a good corner slapping session in the woods with your mates. Before we dig into the details, here’s a little shreddit from freerider Hannah Bergemann and enduro racer Mathew Slaven, ripping up some local tracks modeling the Dakine Drift.
Dakine Drift MTB Shoes
The Dakine Drift flats get the brand’s own proprietary rubber outsole, said to have been in development for years. They say it offers incredible grip whilst retaining good durability and thus, longevity.
They get a durable PU upper that features a perforated foam tongue and side panels for improved heat and moisture management. Dakine uses a proprietary shank too, said to be flexible in the toe region for pushing back up trails when sessioning. Beyond this region, the shank is stiffer to maximize power transfer through to the pedals.
These flat pedal shoes are only available with a lace closure. They have a roomy toe box for extra comfort with anterior padding shaped to lock the heel securely into place. A reflective material on the collar is said to provide additional safety in low visibility conditions.

The Dakine Drift mountain bike shoes are available in men’s (7-13) and women’s (5-11) sizing, with camo and black colorways for men and Nile Grey or Black for Women. Pick them up for $140 USD.
