As the carbon wheel wars heat up, companies are starting really sweeten the deal to purchase their wheels over the competition. That has led to some pretty aggressive crash replacement programs, but Atomik Carbon might have everyone beat. Damage any competing rim, aluminum or carbon – and Atomik will replace it under their new Universal Crash Replacement.
Of course, with an offer like that it would be easy for people to take advantage of, so there are a few stipulations. First, the damaged rim has to be less than two years old with the original proof of purchase. Second, there is a small fee involved for each rim replacement – but you’re still getting a pretty impressive deal.
Take the new Atomik Carbon AM 35 hookless rims above: to buy new would be $435 for just the rim. In the UCR program, you pay $310, and you get the rim plus new spokes and nipples, all rebuilt to your current hubs. The customer is also responsible for shipping and handling, and the crash replacements are handled directly though Atomik Carbon. Only damaged one rim? You can still upgrade both rims to get a complete Atomik wheelset. Pricing for each UCR claim for a mountain rim is $310 each, road rims are $350 each, CHUBBY 43 plus rims are $450 each, and PHATTY 85 fat rims will be $500 each.
Expanded Lifetime Warranty & Universal Pricing
If that wasn’t enough to get you excited about Atomik, the brand is expanding their Lifetime warranty program to include damage from impacts for the life of the product for the original owner. That’s right. Case that jump? It’s covered under warranty, no questions asked.
Pricing has also been lowered across the board to get complete wheels down to just $1,249 with DT Swiss 350 hubs, and Industry Nine hubs starting at $1,449.
