Having established their name on the performance steel tubesets that many modern classic Italian road racing bikes were built from, Dedacciai has continued to move forward with other materials. And like many companies, they’ve settled on carbon to produce their newest generation of balanced, lightweight race bikes. The new Vertigine builds on the same general race geometry of their top level Ran RS racer, but gets a bit longer in the headtube for a more comfortable upright position and tones down the carbon a bit for what remains a light frame that can eat up a little more road buzz. The new bike aims to target those ultra long rides (they’re talking >180km), but is equally suited for a fast weekend race with your friend. Take a closer look after the break…
The target is endurance and marathon road rides, where you are still looking to go fast, but likely to be spending a lot of time in the saddle. So the Vertigine frameset keeps the same race-focused 72°/74° head/seat angles, 70mm of BB drop and 410mm chainstays as their top road bikes, but adds about 10mm of frame stack across the range.
The idea is to appeal to either the ultra endurance rider, or the weekend warrior not looking to get home with a sore back at the end of their Sunday ride. The move to a high-mod Toray fiber (down from ultra-high-mod) actually only adds about 60g to maintain about the same drivetrain stiffness, but actually results in a more compliant ride.
The switch also brings the price down a bit putting the new Vertigine at a price of 1330€ for the frame and fork. Claiming a weight of 980g for a painted medium frame, plus another 370g for the matching fork, the new bike picks most of the standard contemporary road bike features. That includes a full carbon PF30 BB, modular internal routing for mechanical or electronic drivetrains, carbon dropout with alloy protectors, 1.125-1.5″ full carbon fork and integrated headset.
Available in 5 sizes from XS (~52cm) to XL (~60cm), the bike also uses a 31,6 mm seatpost.
The endurance road racing Vertigine frameset comes standard in black on black or red/black with white decals. But if you want something more adventurous, they’ll do custom paint on demand starting from another 250€.
