Thanks to their in-house paint set up, Trek is able to offer a dizzying array of colors and styles. And while that means more options for stock bikes on a regular basis, it also opens up the opportunity of special editions. In the case of their top pro riders, Trek can even serve up limited editions to the general public – like the new Chasin’ Aces Madone that was created for John Degenkolb.
According to Trek, a big part of the inspiration for the design comes from Degenkolb’s own Cafe Racer shown in the clip above. The theme is a variation on the recent Cafe Racer inspired Domane paint scheme of Degenkolb’s, but with new details to complement the Madone.
Turning that inspiration into a paint job that can be replicated by Trek’s master painters is something that Project One does best. Coated in Black Moss, the frame features silver lettering along with flashes of bright red in addition to some subtle references to all four suits of aces.
On top of the price of the Madone itself, the Chasin’ Aces theme is a $1,000 upcharge, which will be available through Project One for a limited time.
