One of the world’s most convenient fenders just got better. Previously, if you were riding along and it started raining riders could simply reach under their saddle and pull out an Ass Saver. The compact, foldable polypropylene fender stashed neatly in a pocket and popped into place on the rails of the saddle in seconds. Well, after years of use by both average joes and pro peloton, the Ass Saver is getting an upgrade with a new, longer Ass Saver Extended model.
Introduced with the help of the Rapha Condor JLT Pro cycling team, the Ass Saver Extended grows in length, and changes slightly to be more effective in wet riding. To be first used in the Tour of Korea from June 8-15, the Rapha Condor JLT Ass Saver Extended versions are team only, but they will be giving quite a few away…
Originally made to 340mm in length, the Extended version adds 30mm for a 370mm total size. After working with their pro riders, Ass Savers realized that riders were either leaving them on their bikes for the entire ride or not using them at all. This led to the removal of the horizontal crease in the original Ass Saver that allowed the fender to be folded in half for under the saddle storage. By removing the crease, the Extended fenders are more rigid and will better resist popping out on really rough, cobbled roads.
Available in a number of colors including transparent, the Ass Saver extended retails for the same price as the original at €7.99. Made in Sweeden, the 18g fender is made from 100% recyclable polypropylene and simply snaps onto the front rails of most saddles, including carbon rails.
