As more and more cyclists take leave the beaten path behind, components continue to follow right along. Like most new-ish disciplines, purpose built tech typically starts at or near the top and then trickles down as things get more popular. That’s where we find Easton with the introduction of their newest handlebar, the EA50 AX.
Following in the footsteps of the EA70 AX and EC70 AX, the EA50 AX brings their flared shape to a more affordable platform. The aluminum bar includes the same MCD (Maximum Contact Drop) design with a 16 degree flare for better control and comfort off road.
Like Salsa’s new bars, the AX line features a wider center section for carrying gear with 130mm of 31.8mm diameter clamping surface. In addition to the new EA50 AX, all of the AX bars will gain a new 46cm width which is measured center to center at the hoods.
The EA50 AX comes in at 325g for a 42cm bar, and includes an 80mm reach and 120mm drop. Expect the bars to retail for about $50 once available.
