This past summer we got up close with the prototype of KTM’s next big mountain bike project, their adventure ready Prowler 150mm 29er all-mountain bike. Now the bike is quickly moving towards production and KTM had a more finished sample, and concrete details to share.

Prowler Sonic 12 carbon full suspension 29er all mountain bike

Dubbed an Adventure Fully, KTM sees the lightweight long-travel 29er as a mix between all-mountain and enduro. What they take from that mix is a lightweight bike that climbs well, and can descend any backcountry trail you can find.

Suspension layout is an extended 150mm travel version of their Horst Link 4-bar design, with the Straight Line Link shock layout and Boost spacing. Fox will take care of the suspension, using a Kashima-coated, Factory level Float shock and 36 Float fork on this top end build. They’ll also supply a matching Transfer Factory dropper post.

Final weights and expected early 2018 delivery dates are still up in the air, but KTM has sorted out a final spec and pricing. The Prowler Sonic 12 will sell for 7000€ with a complete SRAM XX1 Eagle drivetrain & Magura MT Trail brakes.

Macina Fold compact e-bike super commuter

KTM has long had an e-bike line-up almost as broad as their regular pedal bikes. But for 2018 they are adding a few unique e-commuters for zipping around town.

The new Macina Fold puts the normal folding bike hinge in between a Bosch Active e-bike drive motor at the bottom bracket and the battery pack housed in the oversized downtube. Then a large Gates CDX belt drive transmission turns a Shimano Nexus internally geared hub out back. Ultimately the 20″ wheeled folder will pack down to 84x68x40cm (33″x27″x16″), and is expected to sell for just over 3000€ when it is available in the summer of 2018.

Macina Flite dropbar all road e-bike super commuter

The Macina Flite Street 11 is another curious e-bike, slated for a springtime 2018 arrival. Here is starts with an aluminum fat tire road/gravel frame with an integrated downtube battery and a Bosch CX motor. Oh and besides hydraulic disc brakes, don’t forget the 40mm of headshock suspension under the headtube.

Then the 3700€ flight gets a SRAM Apex 1x drivetrain, deep section aluminum rims, a wide flare dropbar, full coverage fenders with integrated Busch & Muller LED lighting, and a low-profile rack brace on the back so you can clip on your pannier-style briefcase for the ride to work.

Doubt it, pretty sure they lost that frivolous patent quite a few years ago.

You cant patent a “look”. Spcialized FSR patent expired already.

No but you can trademark a look/appearance if I’m not mistaken.

My pretty face is trademarked. If anyone else look more handsome than me I’ll sue it.

Yea, you can trademark a ‘look’ as such. Not sure in this case as the ‘look’ has a structural engineering purpose, so the Big sue happy S would have had to hold a patent on the engineering principle before holding a trademark on the look….

I am sure KTM has enough money to take on Specialized in court.

Ibis has a similar looking bike to the Enduro and they have yet to be served with a suit. I think people just like to hate on Specialized on the comment section of every other Bike rumor article instead of actually talking about how the prowler looks like a rad bike and good on KTM on developing their mtb line, but what do I know.
