Winter riding giving you cold feet? Soon there will be a new option for winter cyclists if you’re willing to pay for it. Building off their heated winter E-Gloves, French glove maker Racer is now getting to the foot of the issue with their heated E-Cover.
Using a rechargeable battery powered heating element, the E-Cover is a neoprene shoe cover with heating on the outside of the shoe down to the toes. Utilizing a built in microprocessor with thermo regulation, the cover will control the level of heat preventing it from getting too hot or not hot enough.
The rechargeable battery pack tucks into the inside of the shoe cover and is removed for charging. The battery is said to last from 3-6hrs depending on the setting (low, medium, and high), and will take 4-5 hours to recharge with the country specific charger (included).
The shoe covers are designed to work with road shoes and cleats, though the company says they are ok for offroad use as well. Claimed weight is 260g, and optimum operating temperature is 14 – 48ºF. Price for a pair is set at 219€, and the covers will be available in late October.
Cold hands as well? Make it a pair with the Racer E-Glove 2 which use the same heating system with a soft-shell exterior.
