Stages unveiled the next generation of their Dash head unit at Eurobike, and did so in glorious color. Thanks to their new EverBrite display, Stages is available to offer a full color display which is always backlit, making it visible in even in full sunlight. Offered in the M50 (Medium) and L50 (Large), the two head units are the next evolution of their Dash computer. Each computer features an impressive 16Gb of internal storage and the larger computer has an 18h battery life, while the medium is 15h. Physically, the Dash L50 measures 85x58mm with a 400×240 resolution display, while the Dash M50 measures 73x53mm with a 320×240 resolution display making them 100g and 65g respectively. Each computer also includes a high end aluminum mount in the box to properly position the computer out front.
USB rechargeable, the computers can be mounted from the bottom or the side depending on the need.
To go along with that beautiful new color screen, Stages is working on what they feel is a better mapping system for cyclists. Using open stream mapping, you should be able to just open the map and use it as a true GPS unit and all maps will be free to download. Further, Stages says that the maps have been tailored to cyclists, placing more emphasis on roads you can actually ride a bike on rather than highways and freeways.
The computers both support GPX, TCX, and FIT routes, have ANT+ and BTLE connectivity, allow for custom data fields, and integration with the Stages Link online training platform. Available in the fall, the M50 will sell for $249, while the L50 is $349. A third monochrome (non-colored) computer called the L10 will also be available as an entry level device for $149.
