Ever since they launched the radical Factor 001, the company has been hard to ignore. Sure, not many people could afford the 001 when it was offered as the super limited Aston Martin One-77 at £25,000 a pop, but the technology was slowly trickling down to their first production model, the Vis Vires.
Now through a partnership with the UK’s first Pro Continental cycling team, Factor is showing three new models which will be used by One Pro Cycling and available to consumers in 2016…
Essentially a UCI legal version of the Vis Vires, the Factor One includes most of the radical front end but with a standard road caliper rim brake. The frame even includes the split down tube which is said to eliminate almost 100g of aerodynamic drag compared to that of a standard aero tube.
Equipped with the Infocrank power meter, the back of the bike features aerodynamic tubing with the rear brake under the chain stay. Not pictured is the new One-S which is said to have the same split downtube design as the One, but with a standard fork to allow for typical cockpit components to be used instead of the integrated one piece stem/bar on the One.
Stepping away from most of the Vis Vires’ radical design, the O2 is built to be more of your typical mountain stage racer than the aerodynamic missile of the One. Weight is claimed to be 6.9kg with an Infocrank power meter, and the bike uses a standard round post and cockpit components.
One Pro Cycling is hitting the Pro Continental circuit under owner and former cricketer, Matt Prior. After stepping up from a continental team last year, the squad has their eye on pro tour status in the near future.
