Just a few months since we last saw them, K-EDGE is back with another new mount. This time they’re targeting the opposite end of the spectrum with their all new Race Mount. K-EDGE has always been about precision machined aluminum mounts that are as strong as they are beautiful, but they also have an eye on weight. The Race mount promises to be 33% lighter than their current Garmin Mount while keeping its cobble enduring strength…
Like their most recently introduced mounts, the new Race Mount utilizes a two piece design that bolts together in the middle – note that this is for assembly only, and K-EDGE emphasizes that these bolts are not to be touched. A hinged 31.8mm clamp attaches to the bar with a single bolt hidden on the bottom of the mount. Initially available for Garmin mounts, the mount uses the same two bolt puck system which is compatible with their inserts for Wahoo and Sigma. Compared to the standard mount, the Race Mount is still machined from 6061-T6 aluminum, but it sees more material shaved away in places like the clamp bands and an overall reduction in width to drop the weight.
That ends up being a 15g drop from 48g to 33g.
To be available in April, Race Mounts will run $54.99 and will be offered in the American scheme above or in red, blue, or black.
K-EDGE had some other color options on display which aren’t available like the yellow mount reserved for the leader of the Tour de France, and this raw/clear coat mount which may make it to production if they have enough interest.
K-EDGE also had a few of their newer products on display like the GoPro top cap which was launched earlier this year and their Sigma inserts.
