FFWD prides themselves on their high end wheels which are hand built in Holland. Already featuring a laundry list of wheel technologies and the best components, FFWD’s latest wheelset seeks to increase desirability even more. That of course means the introduction of a limited edition wheelset. Based on their popular F4R carbon clincher wheelset, the F4R LE is limited to just 250 sets of unique wheels that won’t come cheap…

As with many limited editions, the differentiating factor of the F4R LE wheelset is the cosmetic treatment. Using a matte carbon rim with stealth graphics under the clear coat, the wheels also use a special chrome DT Swiss 240s hubset. The hubs are laced to the 45mm carbon clincher rims with silver Sapim CX Ray spokes and Sapim brass nipples. The rims continue to make use of FFWD’s DARC or Double Arc aero tech which uses a 22.4mm wide rim with a unique aero profile. They also include the company’s Equal Compression carbon technology and CBT or Confidence Braking Technology which in this case includes a 1.5k carbon structure in the brake track.

Sold in wheelsets with Shimano/SRAM or Campy 11s freehubs, the 20/24h wheels tip the scales at the same 1485g as the standard F4R FCC wheelset. There are only 250 sets of the wheels available and they’ll run you $2,499, but at least they include a FFWD padded wheel bag, rim tape, valve extenders, skewers, and Swissstop brake pads!

FFWD is located in Zwolle, which is not in one of the Holland provinces but rather in Overijssel. Holland != Netherlands.

@Steve agreed. For me, I prefer black rims and hubs for contrast, but silver spokes and nipples always and forever. Plus, have you ever tried wheelbuilding with colored spokes? It sucks! And black nipples get all marked up during tensioning/truing. Right from the start you’ve got a half-assed looking wheel.

Agreed. My zip 303s were silver on black and they were awesome!

@Christian, start using hex nipples with a nipple driver. Keeps your nipples looking fresh
