Brooks’ fabric & rubber Cambium saddles are a popular choice for cyclists blending classic looks & modern tech, but still don’t like wet weather. Now the new Cambium C13 All-Weather family delivers waterproof versions of Brooks’ lightest saddle with full carbon rails, for gravellers, bikepackers & commuters who pedal in the harshest conditions.

Brooks Cambium C13 All-Weather waterproof saddles

Brooks’ carbon railed Cambium C13 saddles are popular with riders looking to mix traditional looks & flexible comfort, with all of the modern tech & light performance of a carbon railed perch. But while the standard cotton canvas topped Cambium saddles are less maintenance than their leather analogs, they still aren’t waterproof, and they do break down over time if they get and stay wet.

That’s no longer an issue now that the same nylon fabric reinforced natural rubber top first debuted on heavier Cambium All-Weather commuter saddles with steel rails, now finally gets mated to the high performance carbon railed version of the original C13.

I like it especially for the gravel and adventure riding crowd, where modern hi-tech bikes abound, and the riding conditions can at times get messy.

Keep an eye out for a future review where we’ll look at the real-world differences between riding the Cambium C13 standard & C13 All-Weather versions…

Cambium C13 All-Weather Tech Details & Actual Weight

The new Brooks Cambium C13 All-Weather embeds a waterproof nylon fabric into the natural rubber top that gives it its signature flex and comfort. The C13 A-W saddle comes in two widths 132mm & 145mm, and in both the standard solid-topped saddle & the ‘carved’ option with an ergonomic cutout. Besides offering additional pressure relief, the carved saddle is significantly more flexible through the middle of the saddle top offering more comfort, while still retaining stiffness close to the nose or rear of the saddle.

Underneath, the saddle bolts on the stiff one-piece full carbon loop base with 7x9mm oval rails. (note: white tape only to mark rail position for re-install)

We got ahold of an early sample of the wide 145mm Carved version of the saddle, and put it on our scale for a 272g actual weight. Brooks claims 280g for this wide model, or 259g for the narrow ones.

Not bad for a Brooks saddle.

Cambium C13 All-Weather pricing & new white options

The lightest saddle that Brooks make sells for the same 200€ for the All-Weather version as the cotton Cambium C13, made in Italy.

We also teased it a bit from our Eurobike coverage of the organic cotton Cambia, but the new C13 All-Weather also brings a first for Brooks in a new color option. The all-white version is a first for a Cambium, using a totally white natural rubber shell with white nylon fibers embedded.

All of the black or white, narrow or wide & regular or carved Cambium C13 All-Weather saddles sell for the same price and are available now, straight from Brooks or through their international dealers.

“and they do break down over time if they get and stay wet” should be translated “cover falls apart on the sides after less than 4,000 miles if you sweat a lot.” At least that’s what happened to my original C15. The suspension effect was very nice 99% of the time (except on a downhill washboard where it would turn into a pogo saddle).

Do you know if they plan to make this saddle in the 158mm width? They make all three widths in the cotton fabric, so it seems strange that they would drop this width in the Nylon.

Overpriced and inferiour by design and materials compared to SeleRoyal’s superior and much more durable but now decomsioned Fizik Kurve range.

…Brooks Cambium is just another SeleRoyal product and has very little in common with the handmade Leather sadles produced in the UK by artisans.

I’d go with a fabric scoop over this any day. I love my b17s, but thought Brooks fell pretty flat with the cambiums line. Just my 2 gravelly cents, se la vie

Why is this saddle top sloping down with respect to the rails? The C17 does not appear to have this slope.

I have three C-13s. A lifetime cyclist finds the ideal saddle. Brooks, you should make the C-13 in a non-carbon version, to bring the price down for my commuter. The C-13 is the correct width for me, but I don’t need the fancy carbon rails on all my bikes.

I mean C-13 Carved. I have three C-13s in the Carved version. Just beautiful. I don’t even care much for looks, it just fits me perfectly.

I just wish that Brooks followed a consistent naming convention for their Cambium saddles. The names for the original versions, in which the number correlate (roughly) to width, are fine. However, they throw that convention out the window with the C13 model, in which the only thing we know, at a glance, is that the rails are made from carbon. Naming that range something like Cb13, Cb15, Cb13 [Carved] All Weather, etc. would have made much more sense.

How does riding through deep water on a sunny day prove a saddles all weather durability? That pic makes no sense??

Carbon rails do not save – the mass remains high.

I’ve tried about a dozen saddles over the years and the C-13 carved in 145 width fits me the best. Not the cheapest or lightest saddle, but what I prefer. Will definitely pick up the all weather version at some point.
