Quite possibly better than any card or flowers, is a free weekend of shredding at Ray’s MTB park, as long as you’re a member of the fairer sex. Yes, it’s that time of year again where Leigh Donovan and her team of awesome female mountain bike coaches descend on Ray’s for a weekend of motivation, instruction, catered lunch, swag, and of course riding! This weekend the 15-17, is the women’s weekend at Ray’s CLE, this will be followed up with a similar event in Milwaukee March 15-17.
Friday night is the hotel party at the holiday Inn, so if you plan to join you can book your hotel room through Ray’s for the discount.
Ray’s is looking good this year as always, read on to see some of the new features at the park.
One of the biggest changes to the park has been the almost completely new Transferland. With better lines, more options, and increased flow a section of the park that was really only rideable by experts is opened up to riders of more skill levels.
There are even options on the easiest roll in, with all lines flowing into the ramp back up. With so many more lines and options, even with a good amount of people riding Transferland there wasn’t a long wait between runs.
Jumps not your speed? You’ll be happy to hear that the pump track has received some love as well. In addition to new hits and lines, every feature of the pump track is now numbered allowing you to go from start to finish, or challenge your friends by calling out certain lines.
There are even some technical wall rides mixed in there as well if pumping rollers is a little too tame.
Across the park there have been a number of small changes to North Shore lines – most to the benefit of the park. However, we were pretty bummed to see one of the harder lines is now gone – the long tree/telephone pole ride in the Sport section.
The Beginner section has also seen quite a few improvements with more lines, a much longer rock garden, and improved flow which is always a big goal of the park. If you haven’t been in a while, it’s totally worth the trip and if you happen to have a Y chromosome and still want to ride, men are allowed into the park after 4 PM on Friday.
