  • Swap Meet in Washington D.C.Gearin’ Up Bikes in the only full service, non-profit shop in DC. They sell used bikes, teach classes, and provide employment skills training to teens from under resourced parts of the DC. They’re hosting a swap meet on Sunday, May 17 so if you’re in the area check it out. For more information check out their event page on Facebook.
  • Bicycle Film Festival Call for Entries – All styles and lengths are welcome: animation, experimental, narrative, documentary and music videos are all a go. The easiest way to submit your film is through FilmFestivalLife.com. The call for entries deadline has been extended to May 11th.

  • The Nation’s Newest Velodrome Opens in Colorado! – The Boulder Valley Velodrome has opened in Erie, Colorado and racing has begun. The 250-meter Olympic-caliber facility, designed by renowned track architect Peter Junek and built by Frank Banta Construction, has 41.5-degree bankings and 11.5-degree straights. Situated in a cycling hot spot at an altitude of 5,130 feet, it may possibly be one of the fastest tracks in the world. Benefit Rides

  • Cycle Across America to Build Affordable Housing – Bike & Build, a volunteer non-profit organization, funds affordable housing projects executed by groups of cyclists across the U.S. The ride enables bikers, ranging from newcomers to professional cyclists, to raise awareness about the current housing crisis and help give families in need a home. This video brings together the love of biking and the charity of house building.
  • California Coast Classic Bike Tour – On September 26th, 300 cyclists will be riding 525 miles (over eight days) from San Francisco to Los Angeles for the 15th Annual Arthritis Foundation California Coast Classic. Some of the riders are athletes and others just started training to support the cause. Many of the riders suffer from arthritis themselves, and have wonderful stories to share.

Advocacy

  • Pedal Against PTSD – We are a veteran non-profit organization that empowers veterans to overcome PTSD through the sport of cycling. It was founded by a USMC veteran that started the idea of Pedal Against PTSD after finishing the Tour Divide MTN race in 2013. Check out their video on vimeo. Visit their Facebook Page to learn more.

Crowdfunding Project

Oh my, I have a blue Pearl Izumi quest jersey from the 80’s/90’s that is nearly white on the rear due to sun fading. I love it though. White stripes on shoulders and sides of shirt.
