- Like the idea of Critical Mass rides, but wish it was legal and better organized? Looks like CycleSF may be the closest thing to it – riders are encouraged to take part in the first annual CycleSF on April 28, 2013. The ride will benefit the San Francisco Recreation & Park Department and the money raised will be put towards the installation of new bike racks in SF parks as well as the Recreation and Parks Department’s Scholarship fund. The escorted ride will be either 13 or 24 miles, finishing at Speedway Meadow-Transverse Dr, Golden Gate Park. Registration is $40 with an opportunity to ride in an “elite” escorted peloton for an extra $35. Just what is an “elite escorted peloton?” Imagine a fast road ride with a large group of friends all through the city of SF without traffic. Elite riders will have a choice of 3 pace groups, 20, 23, or 26 mph and it will only be offered for the entire 24 mile route. Sounds like fun.

- Aspen, CO is apparently considering changing city laws to allow cyclists to simply yield at stop signs rather than having to come to a complete stop. According to the Aspen Times, it’s worked in other cities for years and they are looking into it.
- In other Colorado news, the signs banning bicyclists in the casino town of Black Hawk, Colorado are finally coming down after the state’s highest court ruled in favor of cyclists. The town banned bicycles on its two lane roads, citing safety concerns and went as far as fining cyclist who disobeyed
- In racing news, after a meeting held at the UCI CX World Championships, apparently, the UCI has proposed adding Eliminator XC mountain biking for both men and women to the 2016 Olympics. Eliminator is the new format of XC racing that Brian Lopes ended up winning the inaugural race, which then people accuse the UCI of changing the format to make it “Lopes Proof.” Still nothing in the way of DH or DS/4X for the Olympics…
- The California Enduro Series has announced their 2013 schedule, consisting of 4 events. Races will take place in Riverside, Los Olivos, Lakeshore, and finish with the Santa Cruz Super Enduro.
- X-Fusion has signed MTB legend, Jeff Lenosky to their growing list of team athletes and brand ambassadors. Lenosky will continue to ride trials demonstrations across the country along with dealer visits for Giant Bicycles, and is planning on racing select enduro events around the country.
