Photo from 2012’s 24hrs of Old Pueblo
  • Registration is closed for 24 Hours in the Old Pueblo, but here’s your chance to snag a Duo Male Registration and help raise money to help a young mother fight pancreatic cancer. Joshua and his partner can’t make it to the race, so they’re auctioning their tickets (worth $225, but priceless since the race is sold out!). The race is February 14-16th in Tucson, AZ, but the auction ends tomorrow night!
  • Time is almost up to get a race tee along with your registration for Southern Cross! February 9th is the last day to register and get your t-shirt, Feb. 19th is the last day to actually register for this CX event that’s also the first race of the 2014 American UltraCross Championship Series. The race is Saturday, Feb. 22nd, at Montaluce Winery in Dahlonega, GA.
  • The Circle Summer Bike Fest will be held March 27 – 30th in Bankok, Thailand, at The Circle Ratchapruk plaza. The event is organized as a way to bring together cyclists, to promote the use of bicycles for transportation and exercise and how to use them safely.
  • Alessio Timperanza has developed a fantasy bike racing program called FantaBike for those of you who can’t get enough racing… It’s originally in Italian, but is translated into passable English
  • Dr Luca Lo Sicco is cycling from London to Athens this July to raise awareness for the return of the Parthenon’s Marbles from the British Museum back to Greece. More info here.
  • Is your baby a super-fan? Now you can dress them like one. Race-Baby has all the gear your tyke needs to show their true colors.
  • Swobo and All Hail The Black Market are presenting a “Bicycle Derelict Art” show at Nowheresville in San Francisco opening at 6pm on February 8th.
  • Reynolds Cycling announces their new website with interactive wheel selector among other improvements.
  • Culprit Cycles is excited to announce sponsorship of Olympic triathlete Radka Vodickova for the 2014 season.
  • The League of American Bicyclists reports that a bi-partisan bill in Congress, introduced by Rep. Albio Sires (D-NJ), would take steps to advance equity for bicyclists and pedestrians, and boost funding for bike/ped projects low-income communities. Take action now – tell your member of Congress to support H.R. 3978!
  • …and totally random non-cycling PR in our inbox this week: Sticky Shoes – double-sided tape insoles that allow you to remain upright in your 6″ heels. Yep.

Who wants bike trails going through low income neighborhoods?
I’d rather take my chances on the open road.

@James: bike projects in low income areas are designed to increase the mobility of people in low income areas by bike and to provide them with bike facilities that quite often are only found in middle or upper class neighborhoods.

James-

As a teacher (in a not high income area), I’d welcome more bike trails through their neighborhoods. Anything to to get kids on their bikes more…
