  • Interscholastic Mountain Biking gets support from Club Ride, plus new WV & MD leagues – Ketchum, Idaho based clothing maker Club Ride has just signed on to donate a portion of their sales to support the National Interscholastic Cycling Association. Youth development organization NICA oversees interscholastic mountain biking racing in the US. They’ve also just announced that they have expanded a bit on the East Coast, with two new leagues in Maryland & West Virginia, bring it to a total of 21 leagues across the states. Advocacy

  • Yuba Bikes reminds us to help out those affected by the North Bay fires – Yuba Bicycles was spared in the recent California wildfires, but it hot close to home for them. Many of their neighbors weren’t so lucky, so Yuba decided to make some donations to their community, and is asking for others to join them. They chose to support the North Bay Fire Relief set up by the Redwood Credit Union in conjunction with RCU Community Fund Inc., the Press Democrat and Sen. Mike McGuire.   • AAA & Kansas Tourism partner for bike repair stations and roadside service –  Bicycle Retailer was reporting on the partnership that brought together Kansas AAA and the state’s Department of Wildlife, Parks & Tourism. The two are working to develop a statewide network of bike repair stations at key parks, plus a continuation of AAA’s roadside assistance service program for when you just can’t make the ride home.   • XShifter roll out their Android App – Pretty self-explanatory here. We reported earlier this week that the first units will be shipping in the next couple of weeks. With more crowdfunding options just coming live now. Well, the new Android App for XShifter is now available on Google Play. Of course, you’ll have to wait for your XShifter itself to get the full functionality. But they wanted to let backers get an early look at it and maybe provide user feedback. XShifter.com

Alt race news

  •  Aqua Blue Team & 3T unveil 1x pro road team bikes – So, we don’t cover race news really, but have looked at this before… Here is a pro team that is going to be racing at the top-level in the pro ranks and they’ve just unveiled their fat-tire, 1x, disc brake road bikes. That for sure is tech newsworthy, and will be the first team to only race disc brake bikes, the first to race single ring drivetrains, and the first racing at the pro conti level with SRAM Force 1 groups in 2018. Props to Aqua Blue for taking the plunge. Even though road 1x is awesome, a lot of consumer who could really enjoy it don’t take it seriously so thank you for bringing it to the biggest stage.
