VAAST shows more sustainable approach to bike packaging – New bike maker Vaast is furthering their “cycling with a conscience” sustainability ideal after last year’s introduction of their recyclable Super Magnesium commuter, gravel & MTB frames. Now they are introducing entirely plastic-free bike packaging, inviting the industry to join them.
As part of a pledge to support and nurture a Vibrant Cycling Ecology (essentially a promise to operate the business “mindfully, and with environmental responsibility at the forefront of all business decisions“) Vaast says they’re now the first bike brand in cycling industry to replace any plastic packaging with all fiber-based materials. Now using 100% recyclable materials made from recycled products, their simple & easy-to-use solutions even replace single-use zip-ties with velcro straps that can be repurposed by bike buyers. The new packaging is already being used, shipping their bikes to partner US bike shops, and is a nice first step towards improving how the cycling industry impacts the environment, behind the scenes.
“While it may not help our customers ride faster, tackling the environmentally damaging elements of our industry bit by bit is what helps move us forward sustainably. We want our riders to know that we are fully dedicated to operating by our Vibrant Cycling Ecology commitment, to ensure that we continue to keep making positive steps in the right direction towards the greater good of the planet”, says Joey Burke communications manager at: VaastBikes.com
