HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR BIKE SHOP’S VIDEO:

Got some great stories, jokes or other entertaining aspects of shop life to share? We want to see them! Here’s how to submit your shop video to the Bikerumor Friday Yard Sale:

  1. GET CREATIVE. Decide what you want to say or do before starting the camera. Get creative, keep it clean, and make it fun. And watch past episodes of the Bikerumor Friday Yard Sale to be sure you’re not repeating what others have done. We won’t run the same jokes over again. And be animated! We want to be entertained and excited by what you’re doing!
  2. KEEP IT SHORT: Your entire fully edited segment should be under 90 seconds total. The raw footage will likely be longer than that, and that’s OK. We will edit it, and we reserve the right to make those edits and remove any parts as necessary to fit the theme or fit for time. If you think you have a segment that warrants a longer time limit, get in touch with us first to discuss…we’re open to good ideas!
  3. LIGHTING: Make sure the lighting is good and ambient noise is at a minimum. We want to hear the speaker, not your radio, traffic or boxes shuffling. If you have an external mic, use it!
  4. GET CAMERA READY: Hold your camera horizontally (aka “Landscape” mode), we can not use vertical video. And hold it steady, using a tripod if you can.
  5. START FILMING: This can be done two ways:
    1. Film in one contiguous segment with pauses in between (we’ll edit those out for you). Make sure to leave 5-10 seconds between segments or jokes so we have room to splice them.
    2. Film separate segments by starting and stopping the camera between each segment. Be sure to leave a couple seconds of quiet before and after each joke so we have room to splice them together.
  6. ADD A PHOTO: Take a photo of your shop’s service area, showroom floor or storefront.
  7. UPLOAD THE VIDEO: Upload all segments to Box, DropBox, Google Drive, WeTransfer or a similarly reputable 3rd party service. Sorry, but we’re not going to download any file from a sketchy private server. If possible, please do NOT put an expiration date on your download, it may take us a few weeks to get to it depending on travel, etc.
  8. EMAIL THE DOWNLOAD LINK: Send it to “editor (AT) bikerumor.com” along with a hi-res JPG/PNG/GIF/AI file of your shop’s logo so we can give you credit!
  9. FILL IN THE BLANKS: Include any background story or other information that may help put your video into perspective, but mostly the video should speak for itself.

Thanks! We’re stoked to see what you come up with!

Cheers,

Tyler & Watts
