If you’ve been drooling over the recent cassette adapters from OneUp and Wolf Tooth Components lately, but were holding out for a 40 tooth version, Hope has an answer for you. By introducing their 40 T-Rex (40 tooth Range Expander), Hope is looking to take a bite out of the cassette adapter market with their legendary machining capabilities.
Details on the T-Rex and much more after the jump.
Originally, Hope says that they started with a 42t adapter like most of the competition. In their opinion the 40t ended up working out better as far as the jump between the 36 and 40/42 and it needed less B-tension adjustment so they canned the 42t in favor of the 40t only. Machined out of 7075 aluminum, the T-rex will be sold in Shimano or SRAM specific versions which will be installed without the need for spacers. Like all the other models, you will jettison the 17t cog to make room for the 40t.
At 74g the T-rex is fairly light, and will retail for $90 in black, silver, and gold ano.
Hope has also been making their Retainer rings for a bit which use a narrow-wide tooth pattern to aid chain retention. Available in a 30t version with threaded posts, or 32,34,and 36t 104 BCD rings that retail for $75.
As stems trend shorter and top tubes get longer, Hope saw the need to offer an even shorter stem like the new 35mm one shown here. Their shortest stem ever, it is also available in 50mm and retails for $123.
Finally, Hope has been doing their Press Fit bottom brackets which thread together in the center for bb86, so now they are introducing a model for PF30. since the shell threads together in the center in addition to the press fit, they claim much greater durability without any noise or creaks.
