Gaerne’s new top G.STL road bike shoes reset the bar for fit & made-in-Italy performance with all-new asymmetric Infit + Boa Li2 closure and lighter weight construction overall. With sleek looks and a new iridescent option for the one-piece upper, the new top road shoes also hint at a companion mountain bike version G.Snx that will carry the same new tech updates off-road with a Michelin lugged sole.
Gaerne G.STL premium Italian carbon road shoes
Improving over the previous generation G_Stilo, Gaerne’s completely reshaped top-tier shoes drop more than just two vowels. Coming in at a claimed 274g per shoe (size 43) they aren’t exactly feather weights, but do shed up to 10g off the old version. While the previous G_Stilo had since received an upper redesign and stiffer sole, its fit & retention hadn’t been upgraded since the last big refresh in 2016.

But the synthetic upper of the G.Stl has been redesigned from the ground up, with a new asymmetric, variable thickness tongue & flap design to reduce pressure, and better accommodate a wider variation in foot volume.
Gaerne calls the new closure setup Infit. Using two new low-profile alloy BOA Li2 dials, wires zig zag across the forefoot and tongue, with eight fixing points designed to better distribute tension across the foot.
The microfiber now gets many more, but smaller laser perforations for whole foot ventilation, plus an extra airy tongue. The new G.STL also features an updated Anatomic Heel Cup design that cradles your foot, with anti-slip fabric inside to secures against heel lift even further, plus a revised Tarsal Support System for improved comfort & power transfer.
The EPS Lightweight full carbon sole is mostly unchanged from the most recent G.Stilo, earning Gaerne’s top 12/12 stiffness rating. But they are said to offer and extra 9mm of fore-aft cleat adjustability.
Light & thin, the carbon sole includes a large air scoop with three openings under the toe and a fourth behind the cleat to reduce the natural hotspot where your foot pushes against the pedal. (A 10/12 stiffness full carbon Speedplay sole is also available.)
A small bumper at the toe protects the shoe (from climbing stairs) while adding a bit of anti-slip while walking. At the back, a replaceable heel tread puck ensures grip and longevity of the shoes.
The new shoe is available in four standard matte colors – black, white, gray & light blue – and in half sizes from 41-46, plus 39, 40 & 47.
Selling for 380€, the entirely made-in-Italy Gaerne G.STL road shoes also come in a limited iridescent purple matte Iridum option too, maybe to coordinate with all your recent oil slick component upgrades?
Gaerne G.SNX premium Italian carbon XC MTB shoes
Essentially sharing the same upper, the new Gaerne G.Snx is the companion carbon cross-country mountain bike shoe for off-road, and maybe gravel racing too. Like on the road shoes, dropping a couple of vowels & reshaping its name also signifies dropping a few grams. The new G.SNX is sixteen grams lighter than the outgoing G_Sincro, now at a claimed 332g per shoe (size 43).

Again Gaerne G.Snx weight savings come from the reshaped upper and new asymmetric Infit closure with two Boa Li2 dials. The only real difference up top on the mountain bike shoes are the addition of the dimpled black anti-abrasion reinforcements, wrapping all-around the toe and on the shoes’ side to protect the most often scuffed areas on MTB shoes.
Otherwise, the updated Anatomic Heel Cup, Tarsal Support & Fit Tongue tech promise top-level fit & performance.
The same Gaerne EPS Lightweight Carbon MTB sole that recently added Michelin rubber tread lugs to the previous top MTB shoes carries over, including an integrated rubber toe bumper. It gets the same stiffness rating of 10 (of 12), the highest Gaerne offers in mountain bike shoes -balancing pedaling performance with hike-a-bike-ability.
The Gaerne G.SNX mountain bike shoes are available in the same half size 41-46, plus 39, 40 & 47 range. Color selection is a bit more limited, including just the matte light blue, black & gray options. Sadly no iridescent purple matte Iridum. Gaerne hasn’t yet shared pricing with us officially, but we expect it to be the same as on the road, likely 380€.
Both the made-in-Italy Gaerne G.STL road shoes & Gaerne G.SNX mountain bike shoes are available now through regular Gaerne dealers and bike shops.
