Starting with just two bicycles, the No. 1 (lean forward, ride fast) and the No. 2 (sit back, relax), Gallant Bicycles has been selling bicycles from Toronto for $699 since March of 2013.   Due to popular demand, they started a Kickstarter campaign for a No. 3 (road and fitness).

Gallant says their expertise is in powder coating, so the frames are coated to order in Toronto, allowing customers to pick and choose colors, and even add on options such as painting certain components. Full customization of components is possible, even adding internally geared multi speed hubs, racks and higher end saddles

Gallant-Bikes-No1The No. 1 is a single speed road bike with a choice of a riser bar or swept back bar.  With a standard diamond frame, it sells for $699 before custom colors or options are added.

Gallant-Bikes-No2No. 2 comes with fenders stock, and is a more upright city bike.  All sizes have the dropped top tube for ease of use, and it sells for $699 before custom colors or options are added

Gallant-Bikes-PaintingEven if you don’t choose custom colors, you are still able to pick from 14 different colors without any additional charge, and the bike is coated to order.

The owners of Gallant are the same folks that own YNOT Cycle, a custom bag sewing house also out of Toronto, who can make a custom bag for you right in store. Tony Mammoliti, owner of both companies explains “Gallant is passionate about local manufacturing. But we knew that to succeed in a time where well over 99% of bicycles are made overseas, we’d have to deliver something no one else could. That is why we source our raw frames overseas but paint and build them up here in Canada. This gives the rider the flexibility of a bicycle from a frame-builder, including beautiful custom painting options and their choice of custom parts without the custom price tag.”
