America ProTour teams Garmin-Transitions and HTC-Columbia announced they will be auctioning off seats in their team mechanics’ cars at two of the spring classics, raising money for USA Cycling’s Development Foundation. HTC-Columbia has two seats available for the Tour of Flanders, and Garmin-Transitions is offering two seats at Paris-Roubaix, a once in a lifetime opportunity to ride in the ProTour caravan.
The USA Cycling Development Foundation, which is responsible for raising funds to help young American’s develop their talent, listed the two auctions on Ebay. Both auctions go through February 19. Winning bidders will stay in the team hotel the night before, meet the team, and receive an autographed team jersey before the highly anticipated one-day races. The winner of the Garmin-Transitions package will also watch the Paris-Roubaix finish from the infamous Roubaix velodrome, the traditional finish to the historic race.
Bidding opened at $500 for each auction. At the time of publishing, bidding for the Garmin auction had reached $2,025, while the HTC-Columbia package had drawn a $2,481 bid. You can see and bid on the Garmin-Transitions auction here and the HTC-Columbia auction here.
