Busy day for road-racing news.
Volodomir Gustov, the Ukrainian all-rounder who has spent the last two years at the sadly ended Cervélo Test Team project, will be returning to Saxo Bank-Sungard, the Danish team has said.
Gustov was part of Riis’s CSC squad that achieved overall Giro victory in 2006, and CSC-Saxobank to the Tour de France team victory in 2008.
“I’m happy to return to the team where I have memories of great performances with Bjarne Riis in the Giro d’ Italia in 2006 and the Tour de France in 2008. More importantly, I’m looking forward to returning to the team philosophy which has helped me – not only in cycling but also in my personal life. Actually, I’m rather emotional about returning to the team and I’m highly motivated to achieve great results with my teammates,” said Gustov.
Saxo Bank-SunGard has also signed a one year contract with the 22-year-old Italian talent, Manuele Boaro. For fours years, the Italian has ridden for Zalf-Désirée_Fior.
Along with Michael Rogers to Team Sky, next year’s Pro squads are taking shape – although, with the UCI dragging its heels over Contador’s fate, the most important news is yet to be known.
