The big news for last year is the inclusion of a women’s event, which takes place on Thursday. However, this year’s Rampage will feature 12 female riders rather than eight – and they’ll compete at a completely different venue from the men.
The men will take their runs on Saturday.
While a race down some of the most jaw-dropping, hand-sculpted gravity lines ever constructed may seem a bit frightening, riders and their dedicated diggers hope for fortunate days to reach a coveted podium spot.
Diggers will have their shovels and pickaxes hard at work at the Virgin, Utah, venue(s) in the days leading up to Red Bull Rampage 2025. They will cultivate lines for their riders while the riders themselves are busy plotting courses and tricks sure to shock and awe anyone with the stomach to watch.
Here’s our guide on how to watch Red Bull Rampage, 2025 edition.
How Does Red Bull Rampage Work?

Red Bull Rampage is a completely unique mountain biking event. Riders and their crews spend days handcrafting insane lines filled with drops, gaps, and enormous, sketchy descents that drop around 1,000 feet over the entire course.
After several days of work, riders have 4 days to practice and refine their lines before the final event.
Riders get two runs during the event finals to send the cleanest and most exciting run possible. Judges score riders on a scale of 1 to 100 based on the difficulty of line choice, tricks and style, fluidity and control, and air time. It’s not just about successfully making it to the bottom. Riders have to provide ample amounts of style and big sends as they do so.
Red Bull Rampage 2025: The Competitors

Men’s Field
On the men’s side, the top eight competitors from last year’s event were automatically entered in this year’s Rampage. However, of the top eight, three are choosing not to return. Tyler McCaul, last year’s third-place winner, is sitting out 2025 as he heals from injuries. Kurt Sorge, who took fifth place in 2024, isn’t returning this year to pursue other goals.
Another missing rider from this year’s lineup is Red Bull Rampage legend Kyle Strait. On a recent podcast, Strait said that part of his reason for skipping Rampage this year is the venue choice. “This would be the first year I’m not competing in Rampage,” Strait said on the Recon MTB Podcast. “[Red Bull] said they’d be using the same venue as the 2016, 2017, and 2021 Rampage. I tried to win there three times already, I’m good. If you’re not 100% into it, then there’s no point in being there or taking a spot from someone.”
Perhaps most notably missing is the 2024 winner, Brandon Semenuk. While Semenuk hasn’t specified exactly why he won’t be competing, rally car racing scheduling conflicts have previously prevented him from attending the event.
This trickles the top eight pre-qualifiers down to five.
Thirteen other wildcard entries were granted based on a selection committee of former competitors, other pro athletes, judges, and cycling industry experts. This committee used competition results and video submissions to judge overall ability.

Women’s Field

Eight women were invited to the first women’s edition of Red Bull Rampage. This year, the roster is bumped up to 12 spots. Aside from the top four women from last year’s Rampage, the other competitors were chosen by the same committee as the men, based on recent competition results, video submissions, and overall ability. Five alternates are also listed on the women’s competitors’ list.

Red Bull Rampage 2025 Venue(s)

For the very first time in Red Bull Rampage history, the 2025 event will be split between two venues. The men’s event will be held at the site that previously hosted the 2016, 2017, and 2021 Rampages.
Those who have religiously watched the event might remember this history-setting venue. It was here in 2021 that Brandon Semenuk brought a single-crown bike and became the first to tailwhip down a drop in the competition. Other notable features include the Goblin Drop, which many thought impossible until Carson Storch, Tyler McCaul, and Darren Berrecloth pushed the boundaries of possible.
The women’s event will be held at the site where it all started for them. The 2019 Red Bull Formation laid the foundation for what would take place last year — a women’s field in the Red Bull Rampage. This will be full circle for many of the female pioneers, such as Hannah Bergemann, who are competing in the 2025 Rampage.
