As Hunt were setting up their European distribution base in the industrial halls of Dresden, Germany they were introduced to local innovative new hub maker Qvist. Now a couple of years later, a limited edition Hunt x Qvist 40 Limitless Gravel wheelset is the result, combining the lightning-fast 120 POE dual-ratchet engagement of the Qvist Duo hubs with Hunt’s extra-wide 40mm & 41mm deep Limitless Gravel rim aerodynamics. Fast no matter how you look at it. And now built even stronger to take on the toughest gravel riding demands.

The new wheels were developed to combine wind-tunnel proven Hunt gravel aerodynamics with high-quality Qvist hub manufacturing and patented one-of-a-kind super-fast ratchet hub engagement. It is the first in what sounds like many more special edition wheel collaborations to come!

Each wheelset is handbuilt in Hunt’s German distribution facility, and will set you back just two grand. Not too bad a deal, since the hubs alone sell for more than 1/3 of that.

But just 40 sets of the Hunt x Qvist 40 Limitless Gravel wheels will be made, so snap up a pair if you are looking for something both fast in the wind and fast in putting the power down over any surface…

“Being able to work with Hunt on a limited edition wheel set is really an honor for us at Qvist. Since we met several years ago, we worked already together on a few different things. The co-branded limited wheel set is the first highlight of what we hope will be an even more fruitful collaboration. We complement each other really well – Hunt’s focus on their leading aerodynamics and our engineering know-how for bicycle hubs. Together, this results in an incredibly strong gravel wheel set that glides responsively and quickly through paved and unpaved terrain.”

“Our relationship with Qvist began at Eurobike 2022, where I first met Roman and his team during the launch of their innovative double ratchet freehub mechanism. Their engineering approach immediately stood out, and it quickly became clear that we shared the same drive for pushing performance forward. Roman didn’t just help lay the groundwork for a great technical collaboration—he was also instrumental in introducing us to Dresden, a city that now proudly hosts our European office. It’s been a natural and exciting partnership from the very beginning.”

Why do you need a set of Hunt x Qvist 40 Limitless Gravel wheels?

First off, some riders demand faster engagement. And the unique Qvist Duo hub design is one of the fastest ratchet hubs in existence. With 120 offset teeth for 120 points of engagement (POE), just 3° rotation of your cranks before the hub engages.

Others just want a tougher wheel. The Qvist Duo hub uses a 2-sided offset ratchet design. So its ratchet teeth are the same size as a hub with half the POEs, making them tougher than pretty much anything with the same level of fast engagement.

Plus, instead of the tiny lightweight straightpull Taiwanese hubs in for most fast Hunt wheels, these are something more conventional, tougher, and machined in Germany. The Qvist Duo Classic hubs in this wheelset are machined in Dresden with centerlock rotor interfaces and traditionally high flanges for J-bend spokes and classic wheelbuilds.

Plus, Hunt makes these limited edition wheelsets with a few more spokes than their ultralight siblings for extra strength and durability. 24 laced 2x up front and 28 laced 2x in the rear.
