Headline seem familiar? It should, as it seems Diamondback and Fuji are on very similar programs when it comes to adapting to the rapidly growing categories. Like DB, Fuji is toeing the water of 27.5″ with a hardtail model for both men and women, and are getting into the disc brake market for road and gravel with the new Feather CX above. The Fuji A6-SL aluminum frame sees a tapered head tube, oversized seat tube, BB86 bottom bracket, and dual water bottle mounts for all of your off road adventures. Billed as more of an all purpose adventure road bike than a cross bike, the disc brake equipped Feather CX 1.1 will retail for $1219, while a lower spec Feather CX 1.3 will be offered for $1000.
Fuji also had their foray into road discs on hand in the Sportif 1.1, see it next.
As their first road disc offering, the Sportif is a modest spec, with a Shimano 105/Tiagra mix hung on an A2-SL compact double butted aluminum frame with a carbon fork. As part of their endurance category, the Sportif 1.1 has a taller tapered head tube for a more upright seating position. Avid BB5 disc brakes provide the stopping power for the Vera Corsa aero clincher wheels wrapped in Very Helios 700x28c tires.
Disc brakes will be offered on the Sportif 1.1 for $1449, the Sportif 1.3 for $1199, and the Sportif 1.5 for $1049.
Also making the jump to discs is the Absolute 1.1D and 1.3D. The fast city bikes also see a new A2-SL custom butted aluminum frame with internal cable routing. The $1069 1.1D will include a 10 speed Shimano 105/Tiagra flat bar drive train and Hayes Dyno Sport hydraulic disc brakes while the $959 1.3D drops down to a 9 speed Shimano Tiagra/Sora mix with Hayes MX-5 mechanical disc brakes.
In a very similar move to DB, Fuji is easing into 27.5 with two new hard tails – the men’s Tahoe 27.5 and Women’s Addy Race 27.5. The Tahoe is now offered in both 27.5 and 29″ wheels with almost identical build kits save for the wheel size. The Shimano XT/SLX equipped 1.1 above will retail for $2099, and there will also be a 27.5 1.3 ($1899) and 27.5 1.5 ($1209).
The Women’s 27.5 line starts with the Addy Race 1.3 – a Shimano XT/Deore equipped aluminum hard tail with a Manitou Marvel 27.5 Comp TS air fork and Hayes Dyno Comp hydraulic brakes for $1379. Prices drop form there to the 27.5 1.5 ($1099) and the 27.5 1.7 ($789).
