The Wishbone 3-in-1 Trike/Bike is designed to grow with your child. Included in the box is three wheels and two different axles, which allow it to be setup as either a trike or a bike.
These all black frames are made from recycled residential carpet. The materials are collected in the United States, then the nylon is extracted and glass fiber is added for strength. It is then turned into resin pellets and glass injected in a mold. The frame are hollow for light weight, strong, and can be left out in the rain without worrying about rusting.
As the child grows the frame can be flipped over (which required removing and re-installing the fork and saddle), which raises the top tube.
All of the adjustments are simple and can be performed in under five minutes by someone with no mechanical experience. The only tool required is an allen, which is included in the package.
When your child is comfortable, the trike can be transitioned into a balance bike by swapping in a different rear axle. If you prefer to skip the Trike phase, Wishbone sells a 2-in-1 balance bike version separately that retains the ability to flip the front triangle for improved fit.
Retail for the 3-in-1 is $229, while the 2-in-1 model costs $199. The company also sells a wooden version of the bike, which retails for the same amount.
The total life cycle
Wishbone recommends the bike for children between the ages of 12 months to 6 years and has a weight limit of 30kg/66lbs. The seat is adjustable from 9″/23cm to 20″/61cm. Weight for the trike is 13.6 lbs/6.2 kg , while the balance bike weighs 10.5 lbs/ 4.8 kg.
Also in development is a pedal version, which will greatly extend the usability of the bike.
While murdered black is all the rage in certain scenes, some kids prefer a little color. To add a little fun, parents can order colored seats and grips.
Limited edition runs of sticker kits are also available.
