We were lucky enough to spend some time with Gary from Albabici at Interbike last week and saw some of his personal highlights for the coming year. Albabici distribute Italian-made clothing from Nalini, bags from SciCon, helmets from Limar, and SMP saddles- among other things.
Alongside a very nice and reasonably priced ‘Light Compression’ range of shorts and jerseys were some wonderfully shiny Orca shoes ($220, see images) and the very versatile Marmolada jacket. Click ‘more‘ for the details…
The Marmolada features Nalini’s very slick tear-away zippered sleeves. Attached like most sleeves, the sleeve zippers have toothless sections that allow them to be removed while riding. The Marmolada also has a removable insulating back panel as well as a removable inner front panel/hood. The front panel also incorporates a fitted hood, making the Marmolada probably the most versatile jacket we’ve seen.
SciCon’s Hipo ($75, pictured) and Elan ($50) bags have dedicated slots to fit the company’s Micro Tool and a pair of tire levers as well as their second-generation Roller tool-free fitting system. The brackets seem very solid and it was, if not a new idea, a very well executed one.
