While there were a number of companies showing very attractive and classy riding gear at Interbike last month, these two pieces in particular jumped out at us:
Swrve were on hand with their whole range of urban cycling clothing. Here’s designer Matt sporting a very nice, very cozy, and very warm cycling cap made of itchless New Zealand merino wool. The Belgian Merino Wool Cap has flatlocked seams to keep it comfortable under a helmet, and the look is hard to beat. $55 and made in the USA. Hit ‘more‘ for a cold and wet weather jacket to pair it with…
Messenger bag company Mission Workshop are quickly gaining momentum- their booth was awfully quiet at last year’s show, where the brand launched, but was plain mobbed this year. Alongside a DKZ shoe collaboration and a wool jacket, their Orion jacket is one of the company’s first softgoods. Made in Canada of Schoeller c_change fabric, which is set to react to a preset temperature. Below that temperature (say, body temp), the fabric seals up to keep wind and moisture at bay. Above that temperature, it opens up to improve breathability and comfort. The hood is removable and the jacket has the usual bevvy of pockets and vents. The Orion will sell for $360 starting in November- not bad for a North American-made jacket built of a pricey softshell material.
