On the road side of things, Van Dessel was showing off a revised version of the Rivet among other things. The rivet is Van D’s flagship carbon road bike boasting a blend of “extreme” power transfer and supreme comfort. Aimed at more of a pure road bike when compared with the aero Hellafaster which also receives a makeover, the new Rivet is sure to be a hit as its good looks were drawing in show goers left and right.
The Rivet will be offered in both BB30 and standard English BB frames, all of which will posses a 1.5 to 1 1/8 tapered headtube to add to the stiffness. Van Dessel claims their new tube to tube carbon wrapping, which includes a new reinforcement of the top tube, guarantees the tightest tolerances allowing them to build an incredibly stiff and light frame. The Rivet is respectably light with a 56 cm frame coming in at 1050 grams.
Check out the revisions to the Hellafaster and plenty of pictures of the long awaited FullTIltBoogie after the break!
The HellaFaster has been Van Dessel’s for some time now, however for 2011 it gets some important updates. Recently it was upgraded with a 1.5 to 1 1/8 tapered steerer, which hasn’t changed for 2011.
A lot of work has been done to the seat tube and seat post, which helps the HellaFaster’s multipurpose image. The new seat post is a full aero affair with two clamp positions so that you can switch the effective seat tube angle from road race to time trial needs. The seatpost clamp is obviously different as well, and now houses the bolts in front of the post rather than behind.
The HellaFaster continues that aero cutout along the rear wheel, as well as the BB30 equipped bottom bracket. All in all, the HellaFaster is now an even better option for racers looking for single bike for multiple disciplines of road racing. Road courses, crits, time trials, and triathlons, eat your heart out.
Here it is, the Van Dessel that seems to have everyone talking: the Full Tilt Boogie Carbon Crosser. Introduced back in June, the first frames started to show up in July and were filling up the warehouse just in time for cross season. Gratuitous bike shots below!
