47500-5927 ION - Glove Ledge_f

Recently after one of our posts, one reader questioned why more companies don’t build gloves with the seams out the outside for better feel at the bar. Well, it appears that Ion was listening or a few steps ahead as they just announced their new Ledge Glove featuring Maki_Seams. Skewed towards the gravity and DH side of the spectrum, the new Ledge gloves should keep you hands comfortable and protected both on and off the bike…

47500-5927 ION - Glove Ledge_b Maki_seams_900x600

Starting with a one piece, pre-curved synthetic leather palm, the Ledge uses the external Maki_Seam on the fingers where they meet the bar. Ion claims this provides for the most direct feel on the grips and improved comfort when you’ve got your death grip on the bar. Combining Flex_Mesh with padded knuckles for impact protection and breathability, the thumb and first two fingers also include silicone printing and touch screen compatibility  built in.

A Nose_Charmer micro fiber sweat wipe on the thumb and velcro closure finish off the design. U.S. pricing TBD.

I love the concept. I know some auto racing glove use the same idea and I can see why it could be better.

Might be worth a try.

awesome…i’ve even been turning my undershirts and underwear inside out…it’s amazing how annoying the seam actually feels when you finally realize it.

Never had any issue with seams on gloves. In all my time working in bike shops, I’ve never heard a complaint about this either. Seems to be fixing a problem that doesn’t exist? May be a selling point, but I wont see customers throwing extra money at these.

I have ALWAYS hated seam on gloves. Very interested but want a lighter XC version.

The people that don’t complain about seems aren’t the people that have tried gloves like this. Not everything has to fix a problem, improvements are always welcome.

Finally taking a cue from the motorcycle industry. I don’t wear gloves on my bike (unless its the nearly seamless knit gloves), but if I did I’d prefer eternal seams. For long rides especially.

Now if only they made it w/o a velcro wrist closure, I’d be sold!
