Tim Lane, the founder of DirtBaggies, is back just in time for the winter months. Building on the success of his summer weight DirtBaggies, Tim is looking to combine the same bib comfort and performance shrouded in a baggie, with the added warmth of a winter thermal bib. Most of us wear bibs on the road, so it only makes sense that it would be comfortable off road as well which is exactly what Tyler experienced when he reviewed them earlier this year. The new thermal collection includes a bib short and bib knicker model that promise both comfort and warmth for long rides.
See how you can slip into an early pair after the break.
Feature Thermal Short Specs:
- Made in the USA with soft, stretchy, single sided, wicking fleece over the legs and butt
- Silicone grippers on the leg openings to keep knee/leg warmers in place
- Torso is made using a textured, breathable 4-way stretch mesh
- 5-step tether ladders on each side
- Pockets hidden in the bib straps
- WeinerGate fly front
As Tim mentioned in the video, the bib liners use lighter weight, more breathable fabric than traditional bibs which can be accomplished since the liner is protected by the outer short. The bib knickers will stick out below the bottom of the outer short so to keep the knickers from ripping and snagging on trail side roughage, the lower portion of the knickers will be made from tougher material. The rest of the short remains the same, just offering warmth.
Feature Thermal Knickers Specs:
- Made in the USA with soft, stretchy, single sided, wicking fleece over the legs and butt
- Fronts and outsides of the knees are reinforced with spandura
- Breathable 4-way stretch textured mesh torso
- 5-step tether ladders on each side
- Pockets hidden in the bib straps
- WeinerGate fly front
Yes, DirtBaggies is running a Kickstarter campaign to get the Thermal DirtBaggies to market – though Tim does have one of the lowest dollar goals we’ve seen, just $1,000. The initial offering is limited to 50 shorts and 50 knickers and estimated delivery is 2014. If you want to get in on the first batch, the shorts are going for $160 and the knickers at $175 during the Kickstarter which ends Jan, 2. After which, the MSRP will be set at $199.99 for the shorts, and $219.99 for the knickers.
