It may seem like it was only yesterday, but it has been a year since GoPro introduced the Hero 3. Not one to sit back and relax, GoPro is at it again with a new camera that is smaller, lighter, and packs a punch with improved features. The new 3+housing is 20% smaller than the 3, yet it manages 30% better battery life which when combined with a new lens and better programming, means that Hero 3 you just bought may look a little less awesome right about now.
The good news is that if you have a Hero 3, you already have one of the better cameras on the market, but if you want the latest, check it out after the break.
The latest GoPro ad video is stunning as usual, and reminds us that our action camera footage will never come close to being that good. Partly because we’re not professional video editors, and partly because we’re not friends with any lions.
The Hero 3+ comes in a Black and Silver edition and replaces the previous top 2 tiers from GoPro. Side by side, the difference in size is pretty apparent.

To go along with the new cameras, GoPro also introduced a few new mounts like the Jaws Flex Clamp above.
- Jaws: Flex Clamp – A quick way to clamp your GoPro camera to a variety of objects. Use the optional opposable neck to achieve a wide range of camera positioning and adjustability. Jaws securely grips irregular shapes and super slim objects thanks to its innovative design.
- Junior Chesty (Chest Harness) – A smaller version of our adult-sized Chest Harness. Perfect for kids ages 3+, the Junior Chest Harness is great for capturing immersive footage of a child’s world from their perspective—from skiing and skateboarding to slides and swings.
- Headstrap + QuickClip – The QuickClip is a new accessory that now comes bundled with GoPro’s Headstrap. The QuickClip enables ultra-compact, low-profile mounting to baseball hats, belts and other objects ranging in thickness from 3mm to 10mm.
