If we hit the rewind button back to 2018, just before Sea Otter, Jamis lifted the cover on their newest full suspension design. Building on the suspension work of Chris Currie, the 3VO or Three Variable Optimized linkage system claimed to offer a ride that was extremely efficient, yet supple even while pedaling. Jamis reports that feedback to the design has been “overwhelmingly positive” which is good news – since the carbon versions of the bike have just arrived!

Using the same 3VO suspension design and even the exact same geometry as the aluminum bikes, the obvious advantage here is weight. Or removal of it. Utilizing their Dyad Pro high modulus carbon construction, Jamis was able to take out more than two pounds of weight compared to the aluminum bikes.

For a bike like the Hardline C1 above, that means they were able to add a coil shock while still making the final product 1.5lbs lighter than the Hardline A1.

In addition to offering an excellent ride, the suspension design leaves plenty of room inside the front triangle for a bottle, or accessories. Both the Hardline and the Portal will be available as a frameset, if you want to build your own.

Frame details include a 73mm BSA threaded bottom bracket, integrated IS 42/28.6 – IS 52/40 headset, Boost 148 x 12mm rear spacing, internal cable routing, an internally routed 31.6mm dropper post, ISCG 05 two bolt lower tabs with a custom upper chain guide, Enduro Max sealed cartridge bearings, and a HiLo bottom bracket flip chip.

I hope James can get this out there. Always liked the brand/bikes and lately they have me concerned…they still show American Classic wheels some road bikes (which are great, but the company is out of biz)

Get those bikes into some actual reviews!
